Patriot day is observed each year on September 11 to remember the nearly 3000 people who lost their lives in terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Patriot day is important because it gives us an opportunity to remember those who were lost, honor the bravery of first responders and ordinary citizens, and recognize the strength Americans showed in helping one another during a time of tragedy. It also reminds us of the importance of courage, service, compassion, and unity. Honoring patriot day helps ensure that the events and the people affected by them are not forgotten.
