Today was Earth Day and I had to be out of my classroom at a track meet. Therefore, I had a sub for the day. Now let me tell you, I am all about hands on learning and I left a science lesson on pollution for my sub to complete with my students. This young lady knocked it out AND walked my students around picking up trash in our community. I received these photos from her and couldn’t have been more proud! I am so excited that we have you Lexy Jebron, you are awesome and the students love you! Thank you for being an amazing sub! 🤗

What's the best way to learn about "Igneous" Rock in fourth grade? Use food to demonstrate the solid to a liquid and the cooling and hardening process! Yes, ice cream with melted chocolate! What a treat!

“Rocking” in fourth grade!
Fourth grade is learning all about rocks. We kicked off the week reading a story, “Weird and Wondrous Rocks” and today watched a video about minerals (what rocks are formed from). To engage in the learning, we made minerals from Rice Krispies, marshmallows, nerds, M&M’s, gummies, and fruit snacks. Next week, we will continue the “Geology Kitchen” learning labs.

From history of our town (presented by Mrs. Dyson's class) to the U.S. Presidents history (presented by Jase Maynard) I must say the fourth graders have been super engaged with all of it this week! #learningisfun
