Today is Earth Day! Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
Get outside and do one of the following
- Plant a garden, flower, or seeds in a pot.
- Make art from recycled materials
- Make a bird feeder or bird house from recycled materials
- Pick up trash (only if you have gloves or a stick - don’t use bare hands; safety first)
- Any other idea you may have the support the environment.
In the document below, write a paragraph of at least 4 sentences describing what you did, how it supported environmental education or the environment, and what you learned from or enjoyed about it.

Read the section of Mendel and Genetics “Patterns of Inheritance”
Click on the link below Genetic Cross #4: "What are the patterns and what do they mean?" and read the article, “Patterns of Inheritance One Trait, Two Generations” Complete the genetic crosses and record your results on the data sheet below. You should also answer any questions posed during the procedure and/or on your data sheet. Submit your answers by sending my your data sheet.
You should also answer Part V Questions in the Google Form below.

Read the section of Mendel and Genetics below Genetic Cross #2 and read the 6 paragraphs.
Next, read the article, “Do Traits Blend?” You will come across a green box that contains a link to a plant hybridization simulation. Read through the hybridization simulation directions. Look at the handout “Part IV” Simulation results. For each cross record what they parents were and the resulting offspring (ex. Tall x Tall gave all tall). You should also answer any questions posed during the procedure. Submit your work by scanning or photographing it and sending it to Mrs. Murphy or by returning it when you get your next packet.

Next, click on the link under "Performing a Genetic Cross #2" and read the article that pops up.  You will come across a green box that contains a link to a plant hybridization simulation.  Click the link and complete the simulation following the directions outlined on the initial page. For each cross write down, and record what you did and what results you obtained in the Google Doc below.  You should also answer any questions posed during the procedure.

Nutrition Set 4 due Thurs. November 21.  Nutrition Assessment tomorrow, November 21.  Students should be able to formulate a diet based on dietary needs, compare and contrast the energy needs between predator and prey citing digestive system and food source differences, and be able identify how closely related two organisms are based on diets, digestive systems, dentition, and energy needs.
